Mezcla - a mix of sweet memories and moments of sadness

Today marks the one year anniversary of meeting Cecilia for the first time. I read my journal notes from that day today. "All you have to do is look her way and she grins a gummy smile. One of the most content and happy babys I have ever met. HUGE dark eyes, way out-of-control hair with two parts and two cow-licks." This is the first picture we ever took of her...

On the note of sadness, my dear friend, Tello left for Mexico today. For those of you who don't know know Tello, he worked for us for the past two years and become a wonderful friend to both Scott and me. Tello arrived never having touched a cow and with not a lick of English. I remember Scott coming home and saying, "I give him a month!" Tello had such a thurst for knowledge and quickly learned English and all he could about cows. Tello was also obsessed with artificially inseminating cattle (who isn't???) and wore us down to the point where we hired someone to come in and teach him. I will miss him so much! He made me laugh, he made me cry, he stimulated me intellectually. He was a great babysitter and adored Cecilia - and she adored him. Here are some of my favorite Tello pictures...
